The 2012 Kindle Fire gets a new interface and a lower price Video Transcript
-Hey guys, Eric Franklin here. And today I'm taking a first look at the 2012 Kindle Fire. No, I don't mean the Kindle Fire HD, you thought I did mean that. Well, you're wrong. No, the 2012 Kindle Fire is simply the 2011 Kindle Fire with some hardware and software upgrades. Those upgrades include a faster CPU, the new Kindle Fire OS last seen on the Kindle Fire HD, twice the amount of RAM as the original Fire and at $159, it's $40 less in the 2012 Fire which is the no longer available. There's still no volume control, no cameras, you can't expand the storage beyond the initial 8 gigabytes it comes with. There's still no HD video support and its streaming performance doesn't come anywhere near the Fire HD when it comes to range. Also the screen still runs at the same resolution as the original Kindle Fire. The OS has been redesigned and that includes support for whiz browsing for voice, x-ray for movies, x-ray for books and immersion reading. Games run faster than on the 2011 Fire about the same speed as the Fire HD however at a lower resolution. If you're looking for a media consumption device and HD video isn't all that important to you or if you're an Amazon prime member looking to save a few bucks, the 2012 versin of the Kindle Fire is a great value that's worth. Check it out. Once again I'm Eric Franklin and this has been the first look at the 2012 version of Kindle Fire.

Amazon Kindle Fire (2012) Review
The good: The Kindle Fire (2012) improves on its predecessor in three key ways: faster performance, a better interface with cool new features, and a significant price reduction.
The bad: Designwise it's the same Fire from 2011 with no HD video support, no camera, no HDMI, no storage expansion, and no volume buttons.
The bottom line: The Kindle Fire (2012) takes it up a notch in value, but is tethered to the same design oversights of the original.
