>> Hmm...Russian Hill, Nob Hill, Jackson Square, huh, Transamerica Pyramid. You get the impression this new XC60 is all about city driving. Hence the SF imagery in their marketing book and it's all about being more voluptuous than previous Volvos, I mean, the shape is really nice but they can only go so far in Volvo land because they got to maintain the Volvo-ness. They can't be mistaken for a Kia Crossover; that would be suicide. The XC60 has all of Volvos latest safety tech plus a new one, a City Safety, they call it. City Safety is a low-speed collision avoidance system, so you're driving around town low speed, you know, downtown stop and go and you're not paying attention, maybe you're dialing your cellphone and you're about to ram somebody from behind. The car has a tech deck closing gap and hit the brakes. Let's take a look inside too. Now, Volvo has been doing their signature cutaway central console there; that's carried over of course, part of their design language, but now it's kind of canted a little more toward the driver, you see our high-trimmed version here has a wood inlay of course and notice how the screen right above, it is also angled toward the driver as a helper display on top and check this out, Alcoguard. It's an attachment that's part of the car. It's a breathalyzer. You give it a blow, give it a liter of air [filling air] click, it's ready and now it will tell me if I'm okay to drive. Yes! Green light means okay and you'll see the same indication in the inset LCD of the tech. Since we're now considering it for other markets like ours. I see a Dynaudio badge there indicating they'll have their premium sound available on this vehicle. It is about a premium message, that's that whole urban click they're trying to appeal to. It will be available in US early '09, so, it's a little too soon to get pricing out of them yet but this is ,definitely, one of the best lookers they've done yet. ^M00:02:00 [ Music ]

Leaks from the secret negotiations of the ACTA treaty allege that ISPs worldwide would be required to lose safe harbor protections, implement three-strike anti-piracy policies and worse. We think this is outrageous. AT&T thinks Verizon is outrageous for their commercials and they're taking them to court. Also EMI finally got around to suing BlueBeat.com for selling Beatles tracks online. But you can buy a Beatles USB stick for $280. So you got that going for you.

Although on the pricey side, the 2008 Volvo XC70 is a good-looking practical wagon that feels as if it can go anywhere. Its safety tech is incredibly innovative, but Volvo needs a more integrated strategy for cell phones and digital music players.
