>> In the car business day of age, you don't take a hit like the Infinity G-Series and not jack it up and push the corners up. In other words, making a cross over. The question begs, is it a success or sacrilege? [ Background Music ]
>> Under the hood is a well-known mill with 3-1/2 liter V16 Infinity does so well. In this model, its 297 horsepower 253-foot pounds, 0 to 16 amperes and 6.3 while you're getting 1724 rated MPG. The only way the power gets out of that engine to the rear wheel drive is through this gear box right here 5-speed automatic. It's your only choice. I like this guy even though it doesn't look so fancy on paper. Now let's get serious on this car. The tech is really borderline nutty. REX is loaded so we have lane departure warning system and lane departure prevention system. The lane departure warning is based on a camera landed up here in the mirror looking forward, reading the lines that delineate your lane. And if it thinks you're drifting, it's gonna give you a little beep and tell you hey you're drifting. Beyond that though, lane departure prevention is this button here on the wheel activated without icon. Now if I drift and I don't do anything about it, it's gonna correct my drift by using the braking of the opposite side of the car. So drift to the right it look like a little bit of left-hand brakes only which show you all the car back into lane. Also if your signal is on for the direction of drift it does not correct you and it figures you know what you're doing and if you take control of the wheel and do something it immediately disengages. I don't get spooked. [ Music ]
>> Okay, now the audio options. This car has got a bunch of good entertainment going on. AM/FM/XM is all standard so satellite radio is not an option. Now under the disc/aux button we go to town. The music box. This is 9 Gig of user addressable space. Playing music like a built-in iPod. So for example, I'll just take my CD, pop it in the drive just like I'm gonna play it. This button down here record, hit that, and it's now reaping the disc to the hard drive. Continuing on that button, we also have the compact flash position. I have no idea what this is about. You've got to see F-slot down here. That's it's wackiness. The next thing we have on the menu is aux; not just audio but also video because here on the console, you've got a full set of RCAs--the yellow, the red, and the white. Finally, we've got the iPod connector because our car is optioned up to have a true iPod adaptor also down here on the wheel. Now our car has the around view monitors. This is an Infinity-only thing. I'm seeing what's in front of me with trajectory and distance and then on the side there is a 360 like a bird's eye, a camera in the front, one of each mirror and one on the back synthesized in to that. The idea is for parking or when you're working your way through tight low-speed situation. Let's prize our EX 35 in change is our base with a 3-1/2 V6 on the one and only 5-speed automatic. The nav package is about 2150 for the navigation 9 Gig of user addressable music space and the rearview monitor camera for another 2150 the premium package has the iPod adaptor, bluetooth hands-free and the duals on climate controls. Then there's the wacky package, the tech package that's the lane departure warning, the lane departure prevention intelligent cruise and the crowd pleaser, the around view monitor system. ^M00:03:35 [ Music ]

2008 Infiniti EX35 Journey Review
The good: The 2008 Infiniti EX35 Journey can be had with a host of innovative tech, including its Around View Monitor and Lane Departure Prevention. Its navigation system integrates live traffic and offers 3D views, while its Bose audio system sounds excellent. Music sources include a hard drive and iPod integration.
The bad: We had some minor problems with the car, such as the phone book only holding 40 entries. A sixth gear would have been nice to increase fuel economy at freeway speeds.
The bottom line: Impressive for its technology, the 2008 Infiniti EX35 Journey brings in all the latest gadgets, and adds a few unique ones not seen on other cars. It works well as an all-purpose car with a sporty edge.
