>> Now, the Versa is a simple car and simple cars succeed on different criteria than the more elaborate vehicles we normally talk about here. So let's bare that in mind. Here's the entertainment system that is based on this vehicle. In fact, it's the only one on the S model of the Versa. AM/FM, CD and that's it. Nothing else going on here. Not a whole lot of elaborate options I can tell you about. No aux jack, no iPod adapter, no 6 disk changer anywhere. 4 speakers, I don't even know what the power is on this thing. It's not even called out of the documentation, because it doesn't matter. The idea is here it's all basics that work well. The integration of everything in the vehicle is very high quality. When you get in this vehicle, you are very impressed in my opinion, by the fit and finish, the design, the quality of the finishes. It's definitely doing the basics very well. I would also point to the transmission as a nice touch. The basic manual transmission in this vehicle, it's a 6 speed manual. That's a relatively exotic gear box today, especially in a very inexpensive car. The other option on the S is a 4 speed automatic and then if you get the SL, the more elaborate Versa, you can option a CVT as your automatic, but you can't do a CVT in this car. That's a little disappointing but again, it's part of a cost strategy. Now I mentioned the SL model which is the more elaborate version of this same car. In the SL, you can option more stuff. You can option XM or Sirius. You can option keyless entry. Sunroof, lighted mirrors, the CVT transmission that I mentioned as well. You can also option a Rockford Fozzgate [assumed spelling] sub and better speakers all around. But again, you gotta go to the SL. For the purity of message, the S is the basic car and succeeds remarkably well in a deceptively straightforward way. Under hood on all Versa's is the same power plant, 1.8 liter in line, 422 horsepower or so. It's a basic modern gas engine. Nothing else to say. But the mileage is pretty good, 30 city, 34 highway. Without being a hybrid or anything tricky. The master cylinder reminds me of something. This is one of the few cars in production today that does not come with ABS standard. You're gonna wanna option that. It's 250 bucks. Overall, the price on this car is a big part of the story, 12,550 and there's not a lot to add. ^M00:02:40 [ music ]
