>> You know cars are really going high tech these days. Well, not all of them. Let's check the 2007 Mazda 3, four door, Touring I series. ^M00:00:11 [ Music ] ^M00:00:16 Now I must say, this car actually has pretty good, in fact very good fit, finish, and materials quality inside. So while it is a basic vehicle, it doesn't feel cheap. It feels simple. There's an important different there. Let's get on to the technology, such as it is. There it is. We've got a radio. AM FM, satellite prepped, that is part of the basic package here although you have to add the satellite radio separately, Sirius only. I'll give you the price on that later. Standard rig comes with AM FM, CD, but we've been optioned up on this vehicle with a six disk CD changer internally. And that's about as far as you go on this system. On this, I trim level of the Mazda 3, you can't get the better Bose audio system. And that's kind of a drag. So you're left with a six-speaker system, which is really one speaker per door and a couple extra tweeters. So it's not too exciting on the sound front. As you might imagine, no iPod adapters available. You can aftermarket that obviously. No Bluetooth hands free either. You do have an Auks in jack though. Rather nicely fared in back here on the console. This is a pretty common place, but although it's actually kind of an ergonomic pain in the butt, but you know, it's not bad. And it's very easy to get to without one of those annoying little spring loaded doors getting in your way. So thumbs up to that. I will say this, on a very practical level, this display is really well done. First of all, it's put back in that little, that little hood there. So it's really immune to glare. We're under a pretty bright light here. We've got lots of glare around it. But that actual display is not affected by it at all. Now let's talk about what could have been. If this had been an S level trim, not the lower I level trim, you could have optioned the navigation system. And it's kind of interesting. It would have a flip up hood here at the top of the dash that contains a seven-inch, wide screen form factor LCD monitor. That's interesting. It also has an unusual controller down here to the right of the gearshift. To the right of shift gate, is what looks like a TV remote control frankly, with a round wheel and several push buttons. So interesting placement and implementation of the interface. But I can't tell you much about it because it's not available on this lower trim level of the Mazda 3. The transmission on this car is the base unit, the five-speed manual. There's also a, you know relatively uninteresting four speed automatic available as an option. It adds about 900 bucks to the base price. Power coming out of this car is nothing too exciting, although I've got to say, it does a lot with what it's given. 148 horsepower, 135-foot pounds, two liter, dual overhead cam, inline four. The Mazda 3 Touring four door starts at 16850, that's for a manual and 900 bucks more for the automatic. Now the package you'll probably want is six disk CD changer plus power glass moon roof. That's about 890 more. Or you can break it up ala carte. Get the changer for 500 bucks, Sirius is always ala carte, 430 more. Remote engine start, 350 and here's an option you're probably going to want. For a scant 395, you can get ABS with electronic brake force distribution and front side curtain air bags.
