>> You know we hear all the time the auto industry is going green in every direction. Of course that's true, but if you need proof, here it is. The Escalade has gone green. Here's the Escalade Hybrid showing here at the LA Auto Show. What's the bottom line? How about a 50 percent MPG improvement? That's substantial, especially for a vehicle of this weight. And of course you should have a real torchy [assumed spelling] powertrain because that's how hybrids are, so that will help move this guy around. You can go EV Mode to 25 or 30 miles per hour if you're easy on the gas, and once the gas engine does kick in, it's an engine: 6 liter V8. But they keep that guy pretty lean also through a combination of cylinder deactivation - use only as many as you need - and auto-stop. When you come to a stop, it will shut down and restart when you lift off of the brake. Other hybrids that came out here from General Motors, a lot of Chevy name plates on them: for example, a new Malibu Sedan Hybrid. They say it's going to be the least expensive sedan in its class as a hybrid. It's about 23 grand. That's a pretty good price, and also the Chevy Pick-Up Truck coming out, the Silverado in a hybrid. Again, the dual mode technology we're seeing here and the same 50 percent MPG improvement. By the way, the dual mode hybrid involved here is interesting partnership between GM, BMW and Mercedes. See, they can get along. ^M00:01:20 [ Music ]
