>> Infinity loves to put their technology forward. And this is their flagship SUV. What do you think happens when those two come together? A lot of tech. Let's check out what we've got inside the Infinity FX45. ^M00:00:12 [ Music ] ^M00:00:18 Now the FX45 is unusual right off the bat because even if you don't get it with navigation, they give you a pretty toy to look at. Here's the top of the console, a vehicle information display that would take the place of the nav screen we have. That vehicle information panel is also a color LCD and it shows you things like your audio settings, climate control, trip computer, maintenance, vehicle set up menu. But no nav. Our car of course has the navigation system as part of the 4200 dollar technology package. We've seen this rig before. It has both the planned view and Nissan's bird view, which we're looking at right here. Which is a bird's eye looking down on at about a 45 degree angle on the world. We also like how it shows icons for POIs that look kind of like a SIM world. Now unlike the M class cars from Infinity, there's a little simpler way to enter destinations here. You've got to hit the destination button and then you would punch it in on the ABC virtual keyboard. The other little cute feature of this LCD that is standard on all the FX45s is the backup camera. Pop it in reverse and you get a rearview as well as distance markers and also beep tones if you're about to hit something and you're not looking at the screen. Let's move on to the entertainment system in FX45. Very limited choices here, one. This is it. 300 watt Bose branded system, 11 speakers, two of those are subs. There's also center channel in the front, that's how the math works out. It also has the ability to digest up to six disks in the internal changer that are either standard CD, MP3 or an unlabeled featured, it'll also eat WMA disks. Now, going beyond that basic standard, which is not very basic, but it is included in the car, is also a rear seat entertainment option. Drop down 7 inch LCD in the center of the ceiling for the rear seat passengers. It also has a rear console mounted DVD player that has RCA auxiliary input jacks. So here comes the interesting mix on portables. There's no iPod adapter available, no auxiliary jack in the front of the car, but you do have RCA jacks in the back that can play audio or video on the rear screen and the wireless headphones or just pipe the audio from that source into the front of the car. So it's a little bit of a mixed message, but it does work out pretty well. [ Music ] Now once you're underway, the power train set up is pretty straightforward on this vehicle. There are no choices. You have a 4 point 2 liter, 350 horsepower V8, 335 foot pounds of torque. Managing all that power is the usual assortment of electronic brake force distribution, brake assist, vehicle dynamics control, ABS of course and a couple other gadgetries on the power train and the drive train itself. You've got a defeat switch for that down here, but you would seldom use that. Okay, so let's price out our big boy. The FX45 starts out at 49850. And then we had the technology package, 4200 bucks worth of nav system and more. Rear seat entertainment is 1400 dollars, but you have to have the tech package to do that. So you're in for a big piece at that point. You can also do the nav ala carte for 1800 dollars. And run flat tires are 350. ^M00:03:18 [ Music ]

2007 Infiniti FX45 AWD Review
The good: The 2007 Infiniti FX45 combines peppy performance and surefooted handling with a wealth of standard technology features. Options include some of the most sophisticated driver-assist systems on the market.
The bad: For being a crossover, the FX45 displays disappointingly low gas mileage. Its bold exterior styling leads to severely impeded interior visibility.
The bottom line: The 2007 Infiniti FX45's futuristic exterior houses a wealth of entertainment and communication tech in the cabin. Its car-based platform and brawny V-8 give it admirable performance, but you'll pay for it at the pump.
