2006 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4dr SUV 4WD (4.6L 8cyl 6A) Review
The good: The 2006 Ford Explorer has solid roadholding systems integrated with its four-wheel drive and nice handling. Its touch-screen interface is very usable, and its navigation system works well for on- and off-road applications.
The bad: With gas mileage around 15mpg, the 2006 Ford Explorer is expensive to operate. It doesn't include any options for satellite radio or cell phone connectivity.
The bottom line: The 2006 Ford Explorer feels good from the driver's seat, but rear-seat passengers won't be happy with the lack of amenities. And while the four-wheel-drive system is fully capable, for true backcountry handling, the Explorer's tires aren't up to snuff.
